The community bank known as West Wales Credit Union is celebrating it's 10th anniversary and has marked additional great achievements during 2015. Back in 2005 the Credit Union was known as Credcer and covered Ceredigion and parts of North Pembrokeshire. Founder Director Cris Tomos noted "We started off with a Study Group and in 2005 we launched with local people putting in £20,000 worth of savings, now 10 year's on we have £900,000 in savings and lend to our members within the community bank." Cris added "The Credit Union developed to cover the whole of Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion with membership levels growing at a steady pace and now over 1,900 people across West Wales have joined. The name was then changed to West Wales Credit Union."

2015 has seen West Wales Credit Union now offering new very competitive loan interest levels starting at just 5.9% APR. All savings accounts are instant access and and annual dividend is paid based on profits made by the community bank.

The chair of the Credit Union Board Delyth Evans paid tribute to all the staff, volunteers and directors who had worked and continued to work hard to ensure the expansion of the community bank. New offices have now opened in Aberystwyth and Carmarthen  along with the main office in Cardigan.
