Spectacular Spring at park
It is a fantastic place to visit anytime of the year, but Spring at Dinefwr is truly spectacular and there are plenty of events going on throughout May. Choose from tours of Newton House, a visit to an art exhibition, join a badger watch or wander in the woods to see ancient trees and fantastic natural displays of bluebells.
Plenty going on – inside and out
At the end of May there is a great choice of events to keep all the family entertained at the wonderful Dinefwr Park, near Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire.
Dinefwr is a National Nature Reserve, historic house and 18th-century landscaped park. There’s a medieval deer park
There is a new art gallery in Newton House where work of some of the best artists in the country is on show. There will be a new exhibition every month.
You can go behind the scenes in Newton House and see the servants' courtyards and discover stunning views of the park and far beyond from the roof. There are self-guided audio tours too.
Throughout the month it’s calving season for the herd of ancient White Park Cattle. You can see the latest additions to the Dinefwr herd. And the bluebells will be out in the Castle Woods giving a spectacular display, probably until the end of the month too.
The ever popular badger watch evenings are back now and will run until August. See this wonderful animals in their natural environment as dusk falls on the estate. Available on Saturdays and some Wednesdays these events are have number limits and must be booked. See the website for details.
If you want to find out more about the park and its wildlife there are guided walks with the Dinefwr rangers every fortnight on a Thursday afternoon. Each walk is different and is inspired by the changing seasons.
Or just go and explore for yourself. It’s a great family day out. There’s a wooden play area for kids and plenty more to keep them entertained.
And there is a café, gift shop and farm shop too.
