West Wales Pet Watch offers a range of services to people who want to go away for a day, a weekend or a holiday. These include house-sitting, pet-sitting, dog walking and daily visits.

Can you care for animals?

It takes a special kind of person to look after other peoples animals – and West Wales Pet Watch is on the lookout for some of those special people to meet the demand for their pet-sitting services in Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire.

Business owner Lyn Martin says the ideal candidate needs to be fit, mature and have a love and experience of caring for domestic animals. People also need to be trustworthy, of course.

Pet sitters live in the house of the client for the duration of their period away and generally look after their pets.

All applicants must be registered as self employed and must have their own transport – some clients live in very remote places. All sitters used by West Wales Pet Watch are CRB checked.

Pet Watch is a real help to householders and pet owners when they go away. Pet sitters stay in the home with the animals, so that the pets can enjoy their regular routines while their owners are away.

Pet sitters are required to stay in the house most of the time and may carry out light household work, such as watering plants. Dog walking is usually part of the daily routine, of course.

The service is used by people for everything from holiday cover, to weekend trips, even for days out. The service is also be used in emergencies if owners are suddenly taken ill and have to go to hospital.
