Last week I was at the Pembrokeshire County Show on behalf of one of my bestof clients GW of St Clears who is one of the Sponsors of the show.
It was my first time at the show and I was eagerly looking forward to visiting the different stands and soaking up the excitement of the showjumping and trotting races.  It is a show for everyone but I was a little disappointed at the lack of truly welsh businesses particularly the Arts and Crafts for which the Welsh are particularly renowned.  I was surprised at so many clothes stands which gave the impression of a town street market rather than a rural show.
Still many thousand of people attended.  It is a great place for families with many attractions to delight and excite.  The Trotting Races are particular fun and for sheer excitement the Bolddog "Lings" Freestyle motocross stunt team were amazing. Children and adults alike found Dingle Fingle Clowns rather hair raising and fun.  Titan the robot was back - quite something to watch!
However the Show, in the main, is an agricultural show and there were many classes in cattle, sheep, pigs and goats not forgetting the poultry, caged birds, craft and horticulture.
In the show rings the Showjumping was brilliant but due to the monsoon downpour throughout Wednesday night through to early Thursday morning the final heats were cancelled.  The moorland and mountain ponies on lead and with riders still went ahead.  They are the prettiest ponies I have ever seen.
The dog show particularly the dog agility remains a firm favourite with everyone.
It is a very large show and many agricultural businesses exhibit so it is a great place to view farm machinery and equipment.  You would also have the opportunity to view and compare many vehicles as all the main dealerships are well represented.
The Food hall is a hive of activity and another firm favourite with the visitors with many tastings!
Despite the rather blustery and showery weather, nobody got too soaked and a great time was had by all.
The show next year will be held on 17th, 18th and 19th August 2010.  It would be wonderful to be able to book good weather
