LBS Builders Merchants who are the first Welsh company ever to win the Best Independent Builders Merchant (6+branches) and Best Builders’ Merchant Marketing Initiative awards at the national Builders Merchants Awards for Excellence 2010.
The Builders Merchants Awards for Exellence are the only nationally recognised industry awards.
The coveted awards were presented during a ceremony at the Lancaster Hotel in London on 19th November, 2010 The Best Independent Builders Merchant award recognises that LBS is on course to achieve market leading growth in a declining market, has opened two new branches in 2010, employed new staff and focussed heavily on staff training to offer invaluable product knowledge and excellent levels of customer service. LBS also supports the community by giving donations and supplying building materials for charities and organisations such as Construction Skills Wales.
Since 2009 LBS has focussed on increasing market share of non-trade customers and it won the Best Builders’ Merchant Marketing Initiative in recognition of this. The ‘LBS: not just for builders’ campaign raised brand awareness through PR, advertising and the new Home Improvement Card, which is being offered to a range of employers to offer to staff as an employee benefit. The card promotes trade specification products at trade prices as opposed to cheaper and lower quality alternatives offered by national DIY stores.
LBS managing director Mark Davies said: “It gives our whole business tremendous pride to be named as the Best Independent Builders’ Merchant in the UK with the Best Marketing Initiative. While we are meeting our strategic targets for sustainable growth, which is linked to excellent levels of customer service, to have this work recognised by our industry peers is very special. We are extremely grateful to all our customers, large and small, trade and public, for giving us their valuable custom as without them we wouldn’t have a business.”
