New film season set to roll

Set to reel out its new season from this September is the award winning Theatr Mwldan Film Society with 30 new movies to show between this Autumn and next Spring.

Best cinema from around the world

Showing in the fabulously comfortable and hi-tech Theatr Mwldan in Cardigan the films are selected by the Film Society each season from some of the best that are produced around the world.

The 2015-16 season begins on September 6th. There will be 30 different films shown each Sunday evening from then until next April.

Showing on September 6th is Force Majeure (15), which is described as a ‘wickedly funny and precisely-observed black comedy’ from Ruben Östlund.  A model Swedish family are on a skiing holiday in the French Alps, but an avalanche forces a father’s decision that will shake their marriage to its core and leave him struggling to reclaim his role as family patriarch.

The Dark Horse (15), a film by James Napier Robertson, from New Zealand, is showing on September 13th.  It’s a true story based on the life of a charismatic, brilliant but little-known New Zealand hero and chess champion, Genesis Potini, who searches for the courage to lead, despite his own adversities. Gen finds purpose and hope in passing on his gift to the children in his community.
‘An emotionally-charged, provocative drama starring an extraordinary New Zealand cast’.

The Film Society (TMFS) is a non-profit-making registered charity dedicated to screening the best new releases in world cinema, offering the chance to enjoy many films which would otherwise remain unseen in west Wales.

TMFS screenings are open to everyone at standard Mwldan cinema prices – simply pay per film in advance or on the door (seat availability permitting) or choose from two membership packages that offer great savings.

Full membership costs  £70 a year - and that gives you entry to all 30 films shown by the society. The cost is less than £2.20 per film. In addition, you can enjoy  £1.50 off every standard cinema screening at Mwldan.

The Film Society Ticketsaver card costs £25 a year and gives free admission to three Theatr Mwldan Film Society screenings and  £1.50 off every standard cinema screening. Just ask at the Box Office or send an email to tmfs@mwldan.co.uk for more information.
