A public lecture by Dr Daniel Cowling, National Army Museum

Daniel Cowling is Senior Historian at the National Army Museum, where he specialises in modern British and European history. Originally from Manchester, he completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge, where he wrote a thesis on the British occupation of Germany.  He is currently an Associate Fellow of the Institute for Historical Research, University of London, and a judge for the Templer Medal book prize. "Don't let's be beastly to the Germans, the British occupation of Germany, 1945-49" (Apollo, 2023) is his first book.

 Dr Cowling’s talk will investigate the aims, aspirations, and some of the problems that came to the fore during the British occupation of Germany after World War II.
