Canterbury has been given glowing reviews by Lonely Planet, in the latest edition of their Britain guide-book.  The book says: "Canterbury tops the charts when it comes to English cathedral cities and is one of southern England's top attractions. The World Heritage–listed cathedral is considered to be one of Europe's finest, and the town's narrow medieval alleyways, riverside gardens and ancient city walls are a joy to explore."

The authors slated the majority of the rest of the UK tourist industry however, claiming that while they found some great places, there were many which lacked quality or were overpriced.
