Canterbury City Council has been recognised for its work with local small and medium sized businesses. The Federation for Small Businesses (FSB) has awarded Canterbury with The Small Business Friendly Local Authority Award, presented last Tuesday.

The City Council supports several schemes in and around Canterbury, including the Canterbuy4Business, a voluntary organisation that promotes and maintains the needs of businesses in any sector throughout the district.

There is also March Business Month, a wide range of networking opportunities, support and business events running throughout March 2010 - a must for any local business in Canterbury.

Other facilities with Canterbury City Council support include the Whitstable Enterprise Centre - a range of industrial units targeted at start-up or small businesses looking to expand to larger premises.

The Lakesview Office Village is another range of business accommodation designed to get new-starters or home-workers into professional office space with a range of facilities.

There's a wealth of resources local businesses can tap into in Canterbury. At thebestof Canterbury we like to be involved up to our elbows in local business development, so tell us of your success stories through any of the schemes detailed above, or tell us of different ones you think other businesses in the Canterbury district would benefit from.
