The 'Cannock Gateway Retail Park' is set to be built on the redundant grass island in between the 3 traffic roundabouts at Churchbridge, Cannock.
Well known retail names have already signed up to become part of the development, including Costa Coffee, Burger King and CSL Sofas. TK Maxx are also being reported as an interested party.
The development can be seen as a positive making use of redundant land and bringing local jobs. However, this will no doubt act as yet another nail in the coffin of the town centre and its businesses. With more out of town retail spaces at Longford set to open, and this planned development, all with free car parking, the town centre will no doubt suffer further.
I personally am unsure of the need for a drive-through and eat in Buger King. I would have thought the 3 McDonalds and 2 KFCs may have been adequate for Cannock.
