Jeanette Birch has been accepted as a member of the National Children’s Committee of Resolution, the main organisation for family lawyers in the UK. Meeting in London on a regular basis the Children’s Committee work on the following issues
Jeanette applied to join the Committee with a desire to have a positive impact upon the progress and development of the law over and above her day to day work in the area. Having lectured in law during her breaks from practice to have her children this elevated her interest in the development of the law, its structure and its processes. Changes in the law and the way in which cases are funded have had a direct impact upon the children involved and yet the voice of the child may not be heard. In an ever evolving state the practice of children law needs to adapt and evolve alongside for the benefit of the children and society as a whole.
Resolution, is an organisation of 6,500 family lawyers and other professionals in England and Wales, who believe in a constructive, non-confrontational approach to family law matters. Resolution also campaigns for improvements to the family justice system.
Resolution supports the development of family lawyers through its national and regional training programmes, through publications and good practice guides and through its accreditation scheme. Resolution also trains and accredits mediators and is the only body providing training and support for collaborative lawyers in England and Wales.
Resolution has recently issued a Manifesto for Family Law and campaigns for changes in the law at a National Level.
