The Olympic Torch is coming to Buxton
31st May 2012

History will be made on Friday 29th June when the Olympic torch visits Buxton. Having started out from Land’s End on 19th May, the flame will be carried through our famous spa town by a series of torch bearers on its way to London’s Olympic Stadium for the opening ceremony on 27th July.

Buxton will come together to celebrate this once in a lifetime opportunity, and to maximise on this, High Peak Borough Council and University of Derby have been working hard to make sure the whole day is enjoyed by local residents and families with activities taking place before and after the torch relay.  With over 1500 school children, press, media and thousands of locals lining the streets to watch the runners as they pass by, the opportunity for exposure is the biggest Buxton will ever have seen.
