A fabulous new 79-bedroom 5-star spa hotel is to be built on Buxton's Crescent development.

The agreement was signed on 2nd of April by landowners High Peak Borough Council and Derbyshire County Council, with the Buxton Crescent Hotel and Thermal Spa Company and allows preliminary work to start this spring.

This £35 million development aims to deliver:

·     A state-of-the-art thermal natural mineral spa

·     Eight specialist shops

·     A new visitors interpretation centre

This will be the UK's first genuine spa hotel in more than a century and a major step forward in the transformation of the grade 1 listed Crescent and grade 2 listed Natural Baths and Pump Room.

The first of two main construction phases is expected to commence in June and will include repairs to transform the Pump Room into an information centre initially. Eventually this will be converted into a high-quality cafe.

Local Borough Council and Derbyshire County Council leaders agree that this development will be a major boost for tourism in the famous Peak District town and enhance the reputation of Buxton as a lovely spa town visitor destination.
