Very convenient. Club room very quiet but difficult to find, up and then down different stairs, needs better signage. Bathroom towels are thin and ought to be much more luxurious for a stay of this cost. Instructions for the coffee machine would be helpful. Staff warm and welcoming.

Cannot fault the hotel for value for money and it's mediocre facilities which include a sauna steam room and good gym poor quality of sleep however due to thin walls and a keyless access system to rooms which encourages parties larger than capacity

We booked the Village hotel to hold our evening reception after our wedding in Mexico, and it couldn't have gone any better.
Location:
Right off the M66 motorway, it's a doddle to reach from all directions, and a short drive north of Manchester.
Rooms: We had a club room (included in our wedding package)... Spotlessly clean, Sky TV (not that I had time to use it), coffee machine (though it was tricky to use, and other guests ended up asking reception for a kettle... maybe instructions should be provided!) and comfy beds.
General: As this hotel also has a gym, use of the gym was included in our room booking.
There's a bar which has all the sports on, and food can be bought here also, such as burgers and pizza.
There's also a Starbucks if you're into your coffee.
Wedding reception booking:
This was dealt with by Louise who did a great job from start to finish, taking note of every little detail to make our evening perfect. We booked the inspiration suite which was made up of 2 rooms - the main function room which can be split down into 3 if you feel it's too big - we filled the whole room with 16 round tables, 10 seats per table. They could probably fit more in if required. This room also has its own access to an outdoor seated terrace if it's warm or for smokers!
Before reaching the main function room there's a smaller room which has the bar area and a couple of stooled tables and couches. All these areas were private to our party, with a red carpet leading up to the entrance door which was a nice touch.
There was a lot of setting up to do prior to the party, but we barely lifted a finger as Rod (the Operation's Manager) sorted all of this out with the help of many staff, even the table decorations.
We had a buffet later on (there's several types to choose from depending on your taste and budget).
The bar was a little pricey (up to £4.50 on average for a pint), but not unexpected. Last orders was 12:15, with the function being closed a 1am.
In all, a great evening, and would certainly recommended it to anyone. Louise and Rod far exceeded what was expected of them, and communication was constant throughout.

We stopped at the hotel for a one night stay while visiting friends in the area.
Check in was very straight forward and the room was very comfortable with ease of car parking.
Will visit again when we are in the area.

The 80s party night was fantastic. The food was very poor, over cooked and cold. The soup was like dish water, think the chef was having a night off. We stayed over and the rooms were very nice, clean, comfortable and inviting.

I have stayed at this hotel for a weekend event twice in the past year. Not really anything wrong with it; the bed was firm but comfy, nice big tv, lovely big shower, great breakfast, welcoming and helpful staff. So I would stay again, of course. On the slight downside .. I have to say something about the decor in the rooms, which I can well imagine was imagined as funky and modern, when designed. The walls are painted in a greyish, bluey-green. The windows are only small (and last year, the window in our room was draughty too) and the effect of this is that the room would feel dark and depressing, especially given that the view is of the hotel flat roof, against a typically leaden and dull Bury sky outside. There is a feature wall covered in startling horizontal stripes, a motif which continues across the carpet. The bathroom (in shades of slate grey, warm beige and white) provided relaxing and reassuring respite from this unsettling scheme, but unfortunately I could not sleep in there.

Great stay and value for money! Would definitely recommend to family and friends. Stayed in a club room which I upgraded two days before the arrival which was great value for money and well worth it. Great experience all round. Lovely staff!
