I booked this hotel as a last minute nights getaway for me and my partner. Overall we enjoyed it but I think that is really based on what you make of it yourself. We were a bit disappointed by all the missing touches that most low star hotels even have.
I think it would be easier to list this as pros and cons:
Pros:
- The staff were friendly and helpful, anything we asked for was met with a smile and nothing seemed too much.
- The evening meal (pre booked 2 course) was lovely, reserved table was laid out and again the waiting staff were great. We did try to tip the waiter over card but apparently you don't let you staff take tips over card which seemed a little unfair. It's busy in there and they work hard. Not many people are coming to a hotel with cash.
- Check in was super easy.
- Extra pillows and clear definition between soft and hard.
- TV was a decent size.
- Shower is good. decent size head and a second head.

Cons:
- The room layout was not practical, women would find it very stressful to get ready as the table is not placed near the mirror, which is odd. I used the ironing board as a table for my makeup.
- There was a funky stain up our wall (I won't describe it) and one of our towels was stained (before use).
- All the products, shampoo, hand wash, body wash are all actually the exact same product. So I washed my hair with the shampoo and felt like I was wearing a straw hat for the rest of the day.
- The room just lacked all the little touches a hotel usually has. Like where is a glass for water? or tissues? it was pretty bare except the promised iron, tea and coffee making facility.
- The one thing that really irritated me is that I had prepaid for late checkout at 1pm but I went to go back in the room about 11:30 and the key card had stopped working. Just a good job my partner was in there, but really?!? I prebooked it, it can't of been that hard to get right. I would have been pretty annoyed if I had been on my own and had to come and remind your staff that I had late checkout.
- Breakfast was mental. I get that it was the rubgy world cup but guests had to ask the staff to refill the stations when it should have been preempted. but also it was just a really boring breakfast choice. Complete day and night compared to the evening meal. We would have been happier finding a local greasy spoon.

Overall we enjoyed ourselves but I do think its overpriced/overrated. We were able to look past all the missing bits because we were just happy to be child free for a night! The staff were lovely, especially being so run off their feet by the busy bar and grill. They are a credit to you, let them take card gratuities!

Went for some quality time out together as a couple and to relax after a difficult 18months.Turned out anything BUT! was woken from sleep and keep awake all night by adjoining guests shouting, arguing and fighting. This went on from just before 3am to almost half past 5.Stay was totally ruined and was left to exhausted to fully enjoy the breakfast and had to miss out on pool and spa we had planned due to this

We stayed here as part of a weekend in Bury visiting the arcade club and as with the other Village hotels we have stayed in we were not dissapointed.

The room was immaculate and had a superb bed and TV, the staff were polite and very helpfull and there was ample parking.

Room service was quick and good quality and they even managed to squeeze us in at short notice for breakfast before closing with staff still going the extra mile

shame that the bathroom wasnt clean and smelt quite bad.
Also the bedroom window let in loads of noise making it very hard to sleep.
I didnt report as it was early hours and I couldnt be bothered

It was quite an expensive night stay considering the above.
Not sure I would stay again for that reason, real shame.

The Village Hotel sits on a pedestal however no need to hump suitcasesup the 30 odd steps to reception as there is a lift for disabled at the right end of the building. Reception formalities were dealt with by a Receptionist with a laptop and soon after arrival set out on the hunt the room challenge. I think the hotel had been extended so not all rooms were easy to find neither was the way back to reception from some.
There is a bar restaurant on the ground floor however avoid this on a cup final weekend especially if a party is in progress as the sound level might only just be slightly below deafening.
The service was good and so was the food and in the morning a buffet breakfast is served in the same place.
Good sized rooms but could learn lessons from Premier Inn regarding bed comfort.
Perfectly adequate but might check the local Premier Inn next time.

Visited this hotel several years ago and gave it an average mark. Returned for a one night stay and was really impressed about the room improvements. The bathroom was amazing in its design. Didn't use any hotel facilities.

We stayed as part of a wedding party, enjoyed the do. The hotel was pleasant and staff friendly.
Didnt like the colour scheme of corridor but thats about personal taste / preference.
Booked for 3 but only one stayed wasnt offered a down grade room, which would have been appreciated.

We recently stayed at The Village Hotel for our wedding, which both the ceremony and the reception was held there. It was absolutely fabulous, the venue was perfect and totally blew us away when we saw it dressed.

The only negative (which was soon resolved) was the hotel room that we were originally allocated, was very small and it was at the back of the hotel, which was far from ideal. It was soon corrected to perfection by the incredible wedding planner Tina Galasso and Doretta, the House Keeping Manager though, allocating us family rooms straight away, they were both incredibly supportive, as was Tina '2' who took over from Tina G in the afternoon...the staff are absolutely first class.

If I was to offer prospective couples any constructive advice who are thinking of booking their wedding here is to insist on a family room for the extra space and going one step further - Senior Management of The Village Hotel chain, invest in creating a bespoke bridal suite that offers plenty of space for the bridal party because the standard rooms are simply, not big enough!

The beds and pillows are comfortable and the bathrooms have a contemporary fit out in keeping with the rest of the hotel. The food is awesome and the new sports bar to the right of the reception is great however, as the restaurant is situated at the rear of the bar and its all open plan, it does get really noisy so if you like to eat in a quiet space then you would probably be disappointed, so be mindful.

There's plenty of parking and it is free (a real benefit today as many hotels charge) and there is disabled access to the right side of the entrance steps that takes you to the patio area (a god send when taking all your wedding things up to your room, so make sure you utilise it!).

Our wedding day was absolutely perfect and Tina Galasso, the staff at The Village, the beautiful venue all played a MAJOR part in that, so a HUGE HUGE thank you to you all.

If you are reading this review with a view to planning your wedding, you really can't go wrong and its a great size too...We would recommend it to anyone, check out the pictures of the 'dressed rooms' absolutely stunning! :)
