Enjoyable stay at a great place with superb facilities.
Everything was superb. very warm welcome on arrival. The staff introduced themselves by name. Complimentary drinks in the room were also appreciated. The room was spotless and very well equipped. We really enjoyed the breakfast hamper too. The restaurant was very pleasant and the food excellent. As it was a very hot night fans were also made available which was very much appreciated.

We had been told good things about the Eagle and Child by relatives who live locally and our experience did not disappoint. Really friendly greeting on arrival and clear explanation of important about the room points. Bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed the cold breakfast hamper to following morning. Room was beautifully presented. We didn't eat at the venue due to prior arrangements but the food looked really good.
There were no instructions on how to use the coffee machine and we hadn't seen one like the one in the room before.

Great bar, bit on the pricey side. Worth the visit if you are in the area, the outside area is fantastic, clearly a fair bit of money has been invested here.

Myself and my family visited the Eagle and Child last week. From the outset, super friendly staff who could not do enough for us. The standard of hospitality was spectacular, really paying attention to my children, which can be lost in some establishments. The staff gave us the option to sit in the garden where we were blown away with the massive, most beautiful, tee pee!!!! Games were provided for my children! Thank you to all who made our visit so special. Can’t wait to come again

Exceeded expectations
Staff extremely attentive in supporting me with assist my elderly friend who uses a wheelchair. As a busy Friday and car park was full I parked a little walk away. Staff helped me carry our belongings to our room. Breakfast was wonderful as if the food generally.
Parking would have been ideal but equally understand.

More customer care needed
The location apart from the road, wonderful view over Holcombe Hill and Peel Tower. Nicely decorated rooms although a bit on the small side. Fridge with fruit juices, milk and water. Bits and pieces available in case you have forgotten anything,
Hate to criticise but I always think it's constructive to help the proprietors improve. We stayed over for dinner as we met up with family for birthday celebration, the menu was awful and we had trouble choosing something. Probably would not have booked had we seen it first. Steak pie was VERY dry and almost inedible without the usual ale gravy. The fish was small even though ordered regular, hate to think what the small one is like. The burger and gammon were OK. Service between courses was slow and not particularly friendly. BREAKFAST: A limited self service cold selection then order from menu. No proper sliced bread to toast, tiny bits of sourdough not ideal. Items ordered were OK but trying to get a second cup of coffee was difficult, she did not come round to ask if anything needed so we had to try to get her attention, not easy! Such a shame.

Staff could not have been more helpful. Good food, enormous cooked bfast served at weekend. Had very tasty evening meal. Lots of little details, free soft drinks, crisps etc in rooms that make it a pleasant stay. Great wee find will come again.

We stayed for two nights in July. The room was comfortable, clean and had a lovely view of the town. The staff, especially Rosie was top notch. We had a celebration one evening in the Teepee and that was fantastic. Couldn't have been better. Breakfast had many options. Definite recommendation from us!

Perfect Night Away
Absolutely loved everything about the place, room was spotless and super homely unlike other places we have stayed. Staff were super friendly and couldn't of done anymore for us. Loved how quirky the whole place was, amazing price for what you get. Everything was spotless, it looked amazing though the pictures and other reviews but it honestly exceeded my expectations. So much better in perosn. They were that kind to even leave sandwiches and crisps in our room because we were arriving late after a 5 hours drive. The fridge in the room with the little freebies they put inside is the cherry on top. I would 100% stay there again and recommend to anyone going that way.

Came tonight for a family meal and will definitely be back! The staff were friendly and welcoming. Our main server (didnt catch his name) was attentive and provided an excellent service. The food was delicious and there was plenty of choice on the menu for everyone. An altogether lovely evening! Would highly recommend.
