There are three programmes running in Bury this summer: on the 5th July (3 Weeks) , 12th July (3 weeks)  or 9th August (2 weeks); so you can pick dates that works for you and your family. It is designed to support young people’s personal and professional development and promotes social mobility and engagement.

The young people spend time together taking part in various activities: such as rock climbing, gorge scrambling and canoeing. They also take part in skills sessions that will set them up for life and a social action challenge that will see them volunteering in their local community.

Here are just some of the skills that young people will develop while with us this summer and afterwards as an NCS grad:

NCS equips each young person to take control of their future and their employability. It develops skills which will enhance CV’s and UCAS applications but will also serve them well into adult life.  These skills are more important than ever as the young people have had to isolate for many months due to COVID-19 and this will hugely benefit their mental health and wellbeing.

COVID-19 concerns? NCS is planned in line with all government guidelines:

We currently plan to run a three-week programme from the 5th and 12th July and a two-week programme from the 9th of August. The only difference with the two-week programme, is that you will stay locally instead of doing a residential week. You will still gain the same experience, develop the skills and have all the adventures that NCS set out to provide.

We are keeping our provision under constant review to ensure we can keep all our young people safe. If needed, we will make both programmes 2 weeks of non-residential activities in case of COVID restrictions. Whatever happens, NCS will be going ahead this summer, as there’s never been a more important time to support young people. Spots are going fast – so make sure you sign up soon!

Sounds fabulous – it must be expensive? Nope!

NCS is government funded, so whilst the whole experience costs them £1500 – YOU only need to pay £50 for the entire experience: including food, accommodation, transport, and activities.
