With festival season officially under way, a care home in Bury St Edmunds is welcoming its local community for a fun-filled afternoon of food and celebration.

On Friday 7th August, from 2pm–4.30pm, Care UK’s Glastonbury Court will open its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.

Visitors can look forward ‘a British day’. Seasonal favourites such as a barbecue, sausage-and-mash cones and scones with clotted cream and jam will be available alongside live entertainment.

Shirley Steggles, resident at Glastonbury Court, said: “I’m very much looking forward to the food that will be on offer on the day, it’s a great way to get everyone together and celebrate!”

The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see Care UK homes across the country host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.

Each festival will offer sustainable, community-focused activities while championing the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
