Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 – Cheapest places to buy!

Loyal gamers have been waiting for months for the eagerly anticipated release of the latest edition of the Call of Duty series, Modern Warfare 3. Labelled “The game of 2011” by many, will the game live up to its exceedingly high expectations? We want to know what you think, let us know, tweet us @ThebestofBurton.

Price information:

Some retailers have been selling the game before the official release date, at an inflated price of £60, £5.01 more than the RRP of £54.99.

But don’t worry; if you haven’t purchased the game yet, we’re going to give you a quick rundown of the cheapest places to buy the game, both online and in store.

PC

Online giants Amazon are the early pace setters for the PC edition of the game, with prices starting at £34.91, which is the same price that high street retailers HMV are selling the game at. Argos are offering the game at £34.99, Play.com have it priced at a slightly more expensive price of £35.99. Supermarkets have the game priced at £34.97 in ASDA, and £34.99 at both Tesco and Sainsburys.

PS3 and Xbox 360

The CHEAPEST place to buy MW3 online is Best Buy, buy a country mile! With a price of £27.99 on the release date, but stocks are set to sell out pretty quickly. If stocks don’t sell out on the release date, then prices will rise to £34.99, so be aware.  Both Amazon and Tesco price the game at £38.91, with ASDA charging 6 pence more at £38.99. HMV and Play.com are two of the more expensive places to buy the game, priced at £42.90 and £42.89 respectively.

As expected though, there are some good in store deals, particularly from the supermarkets. If you spend £30 or more at Sainsburys, you can buy the game for £28.99, whereas Tesco are offering it for £25 if you buy a PSN voucher, an Xbox live card or online Xbox subscription.  ASDA’s price remains at £38.97 in store, the same as their online price.

Additional information

If you’re looking to Trade in some older games, HMV, Game and Gamestation have some in store incentives, depending on the game you’re trading in. Selective ASDA stores also accept trade ins, so that might be worth baring in mind.

When ordering the game online, be wary of the fact that many online retailers have P&P charges to be added, which can significantly increase the overall cost of the game in some cases, with Argos charging £5.95 for delivery, making the overall price a massive £50.94!
