On Friday 30th Swadlincote had it's annual light switch on. The whole town was out to celebrate the occasion and with the fair that accompanies it, there was something for everyone. The lights looked spectacular as always and was cheers and applause when they were switched on. After the switch on there was a fantastic fireworks display. The display had massive rockets with deafening explosions that illuminated the sky. It was truly a beautiful display that could be seen and heard from far way. They had rides for children through the high street, then in the bus park had rides for the older people. The highlight ride for me, as with every year, was the massive revolving ride (sorry, I don't know the name!). It's unmissable! roughly 40 feet in the air when your at the top you get an aerial view of Swadlincote. It gives a huge adrenaline rush and it draws a lot of attention. It was a great event to part of as you get to celebrate as a community, and if you missed it then don't worry...you can go and join in next year!
