Derek's Tree - Help local children this Christmas!

Derek’s Tree was set up 16 years ago by local businessman Derek Liddle, who felt that no child should go without at Christmas time. It was with this in mind that Derek’s Tree was set up, and over the years is has become somewhat of a welcoming sight within Coopers Square shopping centre and an invaluable source of happiness for many young underprivileged children.

Derek’s Tree 2010 was a massive success, with the people of Burton upon Trent generously donating over 1400 gifts for children, with donations of over £1600 being received. However the challenge this year is greater than it’s ever been, with the current financial climate being how it is, now more than ever the scheme needs your help. If you haven’t already, visit http://derekstree.co.uk/index.php where you can find much more information about Derek’s Tree and how you can help. Last year was the first year that generous people could buy gifts online, making it even more accessible for anyone that can’t make it into Coopers Square themselves. Follow the link above to go directly to the site, where you can donate today. Alternatively, visit the tree itself inside Coopers Square.
