On Wednesday 12 November 2025, Brighton’s internationally acclaimed street artist duo The Postman will officially unveil a large-scale mural transforming the hoardings of the New NHS Sussex Cancer Centre on Eastern Road. Three preview images give just a sneak peek of the full work, a little something to get everyone excited for the final artwork, which will be revealed in its entirety on the day of the unveiling.

The project, part of the Nature of Healthcare initiative launched in partnership with My Charity University Hospitals Sussex, will feature a wraparound series of bold, vibrant artworks in The Postman’s distinctive pop-art style. The mural will celebrate art, wildlife and community, creating an inspiring landmark for Brighton and the wider Sussex region.

The Nature of Healthcare exhibition will remain in place throughout 2025 and 2026 before being auctioned piece by piece, with all proceeds supporting the My Charity appeal to improve facilities in the new Cancer Centre.

STEVE CRUMP OBE, Director, Charities & Voluntary Services – My Charity, University Hospitals Sussex, NHS Foundation Trust

“We’re delighted to be working with The Postman on this incredible Nature of Healthcare initiative. This will see the hoardings of the New Sussex Cancer Centre emblazoned as never before. It brings together art, wildlife and the community in support of cancer care. A truly creative innovation in support of a vital cause. All the income from the Nature of Healthcare exhibition will support improvements in the New Sussex Cancer Centre as part of the My Charity appeal.”

The New NHS Sussex Cancer Centre is set to open in 2029. It will be nearly five times larger than the current site and will bring together all vital cancer services under one roof, serving a population of 2 million people and providing care for over 60,000 patients each year, including those with rarer and harder-to-treat cancers.

This unveiling marks one of the first initiatives in a comprehensive campaign by My Charity to support the New Sussex Cancer Centre, its patients, their loved ones and the NHS staff who care for them.

Since forming in April 2023, My Charity has already made a significant impact across Sussex hospitals, investing in projects such as a new birthing pool at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, the installation of Savi Scout consoles to improve breast cancer surgery, the introduction of Trans-nasal Endoscopes for faster and more comfortable procedures, the £1.75 million Da Vinci Xi Robot Arm for advanced surgical precision, and the creation of dedicated wellbeing spaces for hospital staff.
