Across two workshops, participants will experiment with hands-on making and digital technology, first creating their own 3D ‘Monster Mashed’ creatures from reused toys, then photographing, digitally editing, collaging and animating their creations using Procreate.
David and Tamsin will bring the work created by the young people together into a final short film, presented as a projection-loop installation on the Brighton Youth Centre building during the B.fest 2026 launch evening on Saturday 24 October.

Monster Mashed: Toy Hack – 3D Making Workshop
Tuesday 29 September, 7–9pm
Reuse toys destined for landfill to create new hybrid and mutant ‘Monster Mashed’ creatures using 3D-making techniques. The creative process and finished creatures will be documented through photography.
Monster Mashed: Digital Collage & Animation Workshop
Tuesday 6 October, 7–9pm
Take the Monster Mashed creations into the digital world, using Procreate to edit, collage and animate photographs created during the first workshop.

Final Film & Projection
Saturday 24 October, 6–9pm
See the Monster Mashed creatures come to life in a final short film combining photography, digital artwork and animation created during the workshops.
The film will be shown as a projection-loop installation at Brighton Youth Centre as part of the B.fest 2026 launch evening.
What to expectThe two workshops combine hands-on making with photography, digital collage and animation, giving young people the opportunity to experiment with different creative techniques.
The final projection on 24 October brings the participants’ creations together into a collaborative moving image artwork presented on the Brighton Youth Centre building.
Seating is available and the activities are free to take part in.
The programme is intended to provide an inclusive creative environment for young people, including LGBTQIA+ / Queer, D/deaf, Disabled and Neurodivergent young people, and young people from Black, Asian and ethnically diverse backgrounds.
