This date marks the beginning of a nationwide run that will see Nichol perform more than 25 shows across England, Scotland, and Wales, finishing at the Backyard Comedy Club in London on 11 April 2026. St. Leonards has been chosen as the starting point for the tour, giving local audiences the first opportunity to see Nichol return to the live comedy circuit.
‘Trying My Best’ features material drawn from Nichol’s long career, combining comedy songs, storytelling, and stand up routines. The show includes performances of his well-known songs such as You Can’t Say That to Me, Sleazy Massage, Elvis Sucks, and Only Gay Eskimo, originally written during his time with the Canadian musical comedy trio Corky and the Juice Pigs. Alongside the music, Nichol delivers sharp observations and personal anecdotes about life in the UK, cultural quirks, and everyday frustrations.
The tour follows his last live outing, ‘Your Wrong’, which ran in 2018 and played more than 150 shows in 15 countries. That production was highly praised for its combination of humour and personal themes, reflecting on family, belief, and resilience. ‘Trying My Best’ takes a different approach by revisiting some of Nichol’s favourite routines and presenting them in the venues he most enjoys performing in.
Nichol has been active in comedy since 1987 and is known internationally as both a stand up and actor. His television appearances include Catastrophe, Uncle, and Man Down, while his stage credits include originating the role of Loco Chanelle in the West End musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.
