Brighthelm Centre is a Community Centre located in North Road, very close to Churchill Square and Brighton Station. The Centre includes Brighthelm United Reformed Church, The Bright Now Cafe and Brighthelm Pre-School. It features meeting rooms, and venues for hire, an exhibition space for local artists and cafe is a great place to grab a hot drink or a bite to eat.

Welcome to the Brighthelm Centre

The Brighthelm Centre is a purpose-built community space based in the city centre since 1987. The auditorium can be used for many functions including music concerts, theatre shows and business conferences. The building has meeting rooms of various capacities available for hire, and a lively cafe which serves food weekdays between 8:30am and 4:00pm. 

There is a lot going on at Brighthelm Centre every day, with a number of charities and social enterprises hosted on site. During term-time, the Pre-School runs for 2-5 year olds from 8:15am until 3:15pm on weekdays.

The Brighthelm Centre is host to a regular schedule of meetings and conferences, lunchtime exercise classes and evening leisure activities. Over the weekend, the Centre often holds weddings, theatre shows and concerts, parties and several churches also use the venue for Sunday Services.

Venue Hire

Brighthelm Centre has a variety of meeting rooms and venues available to hire. These include:

    • 230 capacity auditorium
    • 75 capacity Hanover Room
    • 40 capacity Stanmer and Pelham Rooms and Activities Hall
    • 10-15 capacity meeting rooms
    • Cafe with catering facilities.

Church

Brighthelm Centre is home to the United Reformed Church. The focus of the congregation is living the Christian faith as part of the diverse local community in a sustainable way.

They are actively searching to build meaningful relationships with other churches and faith groups and are a member of the Churches Together in Central Brighton and Kemptown group. 

The Sunday Service is at 10am and lasts for around 50 minutes. There are also mid-day prayer sessions on Tuesday and Thursday, lasting for 15 minutes.
