In August, Care UK’s Beverley Parklands will open their doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.
On Sunday 9th August from 12pm – 2pm, visitors to Beverley Parklands home can look forward to sampling a selection of residents' favourite seasonal dishes, all prepared by the home’s Head Chef, Danny, using local ingredients. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet the home’s kitchen team and learn more about the inspiration behind the menu.
The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see all Care UK homes host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
Stephanie Blake, Deputy Home Manager at Chapter House, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the local community to our very own food festival!
“We are part of a strong community here in Beverley, and days like this are a wonderful way of bringing people together to celebrate our shared love of food, while giving residents the opportunity to share their favourite recipes and traditions with younger generations.
“The day not only promises a lot of laughter, but it is also an excellent way for residents to meet and mingle with lots of new faces – and some familiar ones. We can’t wait to welcome everyone through the doors.”
