Concert under the auspices of The Lions Club of Basingstoke

Neil Streeter’s Heritage Light Orchestra and singers are preparing to return to the stage of Queen Mary’s Hall QMC on Saturday 16th November at the invitation of The Lions Club of Basingstoke. The Orchestra and The Basingstoke Lions have developed a strong and successful bond over the last few years and this will be the sixth occasion that the two organisations have worked together providing grand entertainment and fruitful fundraising opportunities for the benefit of the local community.

These concerts which feature popular music and melodies always work to a theme. On this occasion the programme is loosely associated with cities on the route of The Orient Express. The music will include items from Carmen, The Tales of Hoffman, and selections from Strauss. The singers will perform items from Kiss Me Kate,The Gondoliers, Die Fledermaus plus solos.

The 40 strong orchestra  and  company founded six years ago and this will be their 21st concert. The assembly is made up of talents that Neil has brought together in his role as musical Director of The Basingstoke Amateur Theatrical Society (BATS) and his association with  local musicians and players who have come into prominence. In addition to seasoned performers Neil provides an opportunity to showcase young musicians who have qualified to a high standard and have a musical future ahead of them. The end result is a truly exceptional presentation of local musical prowess and a wonderful night of entertainment. The vocal element of this year’s show will be provided byTracy Gonzato,Theresa Lunn, David Allard, Bryn Hughes and Mark Winter who are all well versed in bringing to life the colour and vibrance of the stage musical.

The show will start at 7.45pm. The audience will be seated at tables in the  fashion of Lions concerts and there will be the usual bar offering refreshments at very favourable prices.

All proceeds from the event will go to good causes in the local community identified by the Welfare Committee of The Basingstoke Lions.
