       Lyn Financial         Services

    Suite 2 Riverside Court

Castle Street, Barnstaple, Devon EX31 1DR

Martin was born and raised in the Barnstaple area and has a lifetime of experience in the financial sector, including managing branches of Britannia and Bristol & West building societies.

Since 2001 Martin has worked as an independent financial advisor under the banner of Lyn Financial Services, and as such is fully authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Martin is happy to bring his 35+ years of experience direct to you, with appointments at your home and at times to suit you, even out of normal office hours. He is keen to work in a "jargon-free zone" with all clients, so you won’t be left struggling with lots of financial-speak. Plus Martin will ensure all costs are explained and detailed up-front, so you’ll always know what you’ll be paying before you make any firm decisions.

"What a find! An IFA of impeccable character and total commitment to his clients. His advice and support in an ever changing financial climate is excellent. I thoroughly recommend him to anyone wishing to secure their financial future with a true professional." – Alan Cruden

An initial consultation with Martin is free so why not call him today and start on the road towards securing your financial future?

A personal pension is simply another form of investment, albeit with a number of tax advantages. Until the 2014 Budget you had limited choice in what to do with your pension ‘pot’ at retirement, but now there are almost unlimited options. Do you:

  • Use all your pension pot to buy an annuity (an income for life) in the traditional way?
  • Use some of your pension fund to buy an annuity, and take an income from the rest?
  • Defer your pension if you are still working?
  • Retain funds in your portfolio to pass on to other family members?
  • Buy a Maserati and enjoy the high life while you can?!

Whether you’re still young and sensibly planning ahead (it's never too soon to start a pension) or you’re nearing retirement and need advice, cut through the noise and unreliable advice and instead call Martin Critchard for a free no-obligation consultation.

Most people want to build wealth for the future, either to protect against unspecific "rainy days", to fund a certain lifestyle, or to buy a dream home. Martin can help you plan for the things that matter to you, whether it’s:

  • School and university fees
  • Paying off your mortgage
  • Caring for elderly relatives
  • Financial independence in retirement
  • Leaving an inheritance
  • Long-term wealth protection

Martin will work with you to understand your current financial situation, make smart investment decisions that will contribute towards your goals whilst managing risk, minimising tax, and (importantly) giving you flexibility and options because - let’s face it - life doesn’t always pan out the way you expect.

"Martin has helped invest money from the down sizing of my Mum's home, achieving an amazing return, especially in light of the current markets. We will be using his services again this financial year. I can highly recommend Martin for all your financial service needs." - Bill Burden

Equity Release

Many middle-aged and older people own homes worth hundreds of thousands of pounds and yet are struggling to get by day-to-day on low incomes. Equity release is a way of unlocking the value in your home without selling, but it is something about which you definitely need to take professional advice. Make use of Martin’s 35 years of financial experience; he can explain how to extract money from your home without the risk of losing it.

Estate Planning

For most people, estate planning simply means arranging your affairs and finances so you leave as much as possible to your family and as little as possible to the taxman. Everyone should make plans in this regards, and you don’t need an actual estate (mansion, walled gardens, deer) to benefit, although with his many years of experience Martin can help people with more complex planning needs too, such as those with complicated family circumstances. If you’re a business owner, Martin will work with your solicitor and/or accountant to achieve the most tax-efficient solutions.

Life and Income Protection

Life assurance, income protection, critical illness cover – these policies ensure that if you die, or are diagnosed with a critical or long-term illness, your family will receive enough money to pay the mortgage, and the bills, and maintain a decent lifestyle.

Many websites suggest you can buy online with a few clicks but in reality no comparison site can delve into your circumstances and consider all the options. Iin fact many of the best policies don’t appear on comparison sites at all and remain available only to professional financial advisors.

Martin can sort out the right cover for you, which pays out quickly, to the right people, at the right time, and without contributing too much to the taxman.

The mortgage market still seems to be in turmoil after the recession; new deals, rules and guidelines are introduced every few months it seems, along with government initiatives. Who can you turn to for well-informed mortgage advice? Well if you live in the Barnstaple area the answer is without doubt Martin Critchard.

There are thousands of mortgage solutions to consider, from first-time buyer mortgages to those aimed at buy-to-let landlords, and many are only available through IFAs and mortgage brokers. The right advice can save you thousands, so let Martin take the strain and help you through the whole process.
