With festival season officially under way, a care home in Basildon is welcoming the community for a fun-filled day of food and celebration.

On Friday 14th August, from 12pm to 4pm, Care UK’s Brook Lodge will open its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.

Visitors to the Ghyll Grove home can look forward to a Hawaiian-themed event, complete with a summer BBQ and tasting platter, and dancing the afternoon away to classic hits from across the decades, performed by local singer Charlie Reagan.

The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see Care UK homes across the country host foodie-themed celebrations and share what life in a care home is really like.

Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
