The Kids' Kitchen cooking classes are designed so that your child can have a really fun, hands-on cooking experience in a home kitchen. We are the proud winners of the Netmum’s best local preschool activity and have been winners, runners up and finalists in the last 3 years of the What’s On 4 Little Ones awards in 4 categories

Our aim is to help kids learn to cook and, by working with different recipes and ingredients, teach them about healthy eating and help broaden their palate. Above all, we want them to have FUN. Enjoyment in the kitchen lays the foundation for a love of cooking and a curiosity about food and where it comes from. And while they are having fun, they are also learning how to:

  • Follow instructions (i.e. from reading a recipe or listening verbally)
  • Measure (pouring liquids, using scales, dividing things into portions etc)
  • Use kitchen equipment (scales, hand beaters, sieves, graters, scissors etc)
  • Assess kitchen risks (things that are hot/ sharp etc)
  • Further develop their fine motor skills (cutting, stirring, spreading etc)
  • Recognise different types of fruit/ vegetables/ other ingredients that they perhaps have not come across before
  • Try new foods
  • Work as a team
  • Lay the table and wash and dry up (where we can!)

Classes run during the school holidays and on Sunday mornings and we also run preschool classes for 2-5 year olds during term time and young adult classes that can count towards the Duke of Edinburgh award.
