Ok - I just thought of a new game - you can all join in - there's nothing to win... yet - except a bit of kudos. I am going to run this blog predicting sporting results - just to prove how much I will save by not betting on them!

1st up - I think the Williams sisters will dominate Wimbledon - ok that was little unfair - as it happened yesterday - but the Mens Final is due to start in an hour's time - so I predict...

Federer in straight sets 7-6 6-4 6-2

Roddick's serve holds out for the first set but he loses the tie-break with a double fault - I know he never loses tie breaks - but then he's not always in a wimbledon final against Federer... or is he?

Result: Well, hey... just as I predicted! Except most of it. What a classic final - would have loved it to have gone on till midnight!

The Ashes - Australia to win 3-1

I think they will win in Cardiff, they always win at Lords, England will take Headingley, Durham will be a rainy draw, and the Aussies will win the toss at the Oval and amass a large first innings score which they will defend easily.

Status - hmmm looks like more money saved - mind you the Aussies to win at Cardiff was mighty close - in fact part of me still thinks they'll do it... just one more over...

Premier League - you cant bet against United can you? I mean - Owen is a gamble, Scholes and Giggs are over the hill, Ronaldo's gone - they surely are a weaker team than last season - but who else? Liverpool are improving - but they rely so much on so few - Gerrard, Torres and eh..... that's it really. Chelsea - new manager may adapt to English football - may not, and then they rely on  a tight defence, Lamps, and that buffoon up front - I cant see it. Which takes you down to Arsenal - hmmm, for the sake of the game, youd like to see it - but it aint gonna happen, and Manchester City - now this is just getting silly.

The Grand Prix - Drivers Championship? Who cares? Constructors? - No-one!

Ok it's a week or so before the start of The Championship - that's Division 2 in old money - so how about this for a bet - this is my bet of the season - Newcastle are going to be this year's Leeds - too many overpaid underachieving players, no manager in yet, the owner cant even give the club away there is simply no money to invest - and who would want to go there even - certainly not Alan Shearer - so, game number one for them is a nice little home tie for them - against arch rivals Middlesbrough!!! If they lose that - can you imagine??? Do the players realise the importance of that first game? Lose that and they could even lose their last remaining asset - their fanatical support! So my prediction - currently priced at 10-1 - is Newcastle to be relegated - you heard it here first!

I think that should have read - You heard it here Only! I do believe though that if you turn the league table upside down - my prediction is true.

I'm off to count up just how much I have saved by not betting on my predictions.
