The weather forecasts are predicting snow and ice again, don't get caught out on the roads.

Having got used to some unseasonably mild weather, the forecasters are predicting that an icy blast is on the way and will stay with us over the next few weeks.

Is your car able to cope?

Before the weather gets too bad it’s worth checking it over to make sure it’s fit and ready.

Russell Automotive Centre, London's leading independent Audi, Volkswagen, Seat, Skoda and Bentley specialist

Russell Automotive Centre, our highly recommended experts in keeping your car in tip top condition, recommend you check the following …

Tyres - the tread depth needs to be at least 1.6mm legally but ideally you should have 3mm tread for a better grip. And while you’re looking at the depth check for signs of uneven wear and for any rips in the tyres.

Battery - listen for the engine turning over slowly when starting, a sign the battery could need replacing. If it’s been a bit sluggish when the weather gets cold it may not start your car at all.

Windscreen Wipers - are your wiper blades worn and not clearing the screen properly? Best replace them now as new blades will make a big difference in heavy rain or snow.

Antifreezemake sure there’s enough antifreeze in your car’s cooling system so it doesn’t freeze up.

There's plenty more advice from Russell Automotive Centre here and if you would like to get them to check your car to ensure it’s fit and raring to go contact them on 020 8419 8166 or visit
