How’s your local high street looking? Booming, buzzing or weary and worse for wear.
At thebestofbarnetborough our Buy Local campaign is banging the drum for our local shops and got spotted recently on BBC London News (see picture above).
We’d like your help too. Do you mind that your high street is indistinguishable from thousands of others, with the same chains and supermarkets draining the life out of it?
Though our high streets are under pressure, there are many great independent shops run by highly committed people who are determined to do their bit to keep our high streets alive.
Owner managed stores make a massive difference to our neighbourhoods. They add more than just character, they deliver a better, more personal level of service and expertise. Shopping locally keeps more money circulating in the local economy with independent shops using local suppliers and services.
For each pound you spend locally, there’s a knock on benefit for the local economy. The more independent shops and services in your neighbourhood, the more vibrant and desirable a place it is to live.
With our Buy Local campaign we’re engaging with great local shops and services, spot our Buy Local stickers in their windows - see them at www.facebook.com/thebestofbarnetborough.
It’s a reminder that our local independents need our support. We’re not asking you to stop buying from national chains but think local first.
Look for the Buy Local stickers. Think independent, think of the difference they make, the extra service they deliver and support them.
And don’t keep it to yourself - please tell us which independent shops and services you love to use, we’ll give them a Buy Local sticker and help bang their drum. Tell us at www.thebestof.co.uk/local/barnet/recommend.
