If you find yourself twiddling your thumbs wondering what on earth to do in your spare time, let me help. Around the Borough here's a few ideas for you and the family:

Fancy some music?

Then head to the Ninth Mill Hill Music Festival where you can enjoy a week of events taking place in venues across Mill Hill and Edgware. The performances cover a wide range of musical tastes including R&B, jazz, brass band, blues, rock, pop, soul, opera and classical. It all starts on Saturday 25th June at the Mill Hill Sports Club and closes a week later with a performance by the BBC Symphony Orchestra. You buy can tickets from Mill Hill Wines on Mill Hill Broadway, online at www.millhillmusicfest.co.uk or by phone on 020 8906 9991

After a bargain and some fun at the fair?

Two great local charities are providing entertainment and raising funds this weekend. On Saturday 11th June the North London Hospice is holding a Summer Garden Party in memory of Jeanne Clarke at 21 Hemington Avenue, Friern Barnet, N11 from 2pm to 6 pm. You can buy books, DVDs, plants, home made jam and cakes and nearly new clothes. There'll be old fashioned games for all the family, a barbeque, cream teas, ice creams and a raffle.

Meanwhile on Sunday 12th June, Cherry Lodge Cancer Care hold their Annual Summer Fair at the Spires Shopping Centre from 11am to 4pm. Lots for you to buy including plants, fashion, handbags, jewellery, gifts, food, cakes and much more.

For the very young?

How about a Teddy Bears Picnic starring Poz the Clown and Magician and a special visit from Punch and Judy. Bring your own teddy bear, a picnic and a rug or chair. Hopefully you won't need an umbrella but the entertainment continues rain or shine. All takes place at Oak Hill Park Green Area to find about more ring 07071 781 745.

Some good wholesome food?

If you want some good local produce try the Barnet Farmers Market at the rear of Spires Shopping Centre outside Waitrose. It runs the first and third Friday of every month.

If you know of any great events taking place across the Borough you can add it to our Events page. Just use the Add an Event link to spread the word.
