BOS, the town’s award-winning and longest-running musical theatre society, is getting ready to clock in for its next production, 9 to 5: The Musical. Featuring music and lyrics by the late great Dolly Parton, this hilarious and uplifting musical comedy will take to the stage at Wykham Theatre, Wykham Park Academy, from Wednesday 28th October to Saturday 31st October 2026.
Based on the much-loved 1980 film, 9 to 5 follows three very different women, Violet, Judy and Doralee, who are pushed to breaking point by their egotistical and sexist boss, Franklin Hart Jr. When fantasy and reality begin to collide, the trio decide enough is enough and hatch an outrageous plan to turn the tables on him. What follows is a brilliantly funny story of friendship, empowerment and finding the confidence to demand something better.
Packed with comedy, colourful characters, energetic choreography and a fantastic country-pop score, the musical features Dolly Parton favourites including the instantly recognisable title number, 9 to 5. Behind all the laughs, the show explores themes of workplace equality, friendship and having the courage to speak up - themes which remain as relevant today as when the original film was released.
With catchy songs, big dance numbers and unstoppable energy, 9 to 5 is a feel-good celebration of empowerment, friendship and the joy of fighting back…with style!
