Deddington Farmers’ Market takes place in Market Place, Deddington between 9 a.m. until 12.30 p.m. on the fourth Saturday of the month.

Deddington Farmers’ Market will celebrate its 8th Anniversary on Saturday, 26th September.   At what will be the biggest market so far this year the NFU (National Farmers’ Union) Food and Farming Road Show will be on site from 9am that morning.   Over 50 stalls, including some new ones, are expected to be trading while other attractions that day will include “Owls Galore” (a local collection of owls), a jazz band and a balloon modeller.

The NFU Road Show which is usually to be found at County and Agricultural Shows gives visitors an opportunity to learn why farming matters.   Like Deddington’s Farmers’ Market it encourages shoppers to buy local or British food and to look for the “Little Red Tractor” kite mark wherever they are buying goods.   Freebies at the NFU Road Show include recipe books, “Why farming matters” pamphlets, stickers, vegetable seeds and an activity pack for young people.   There is even a chance to milk a model dairy cow!

Geoff Todd (Chairman of Deddington Market Management Group) says:-

“We are extremely fortunate to have the NFU Road Show at our anniversary celebration.   We normally put on something special for our customers at this time of the year but to have such a prestigious display join us is very special indeed.   Its various displays and activities will interest all family members.   Come to that - it will be interesting to see whether I can still milk a cow – something I did with my grandfather as a lad but haven’t done for years”.
