News of motor success sent by Jaybee Motors; MG dealers in Banbury:

The British automotive experts had a major input in the styling, design and engineering development of the new car which goes on sale in China in a few months time.

It was unveiled at the recent Guangzhou Motor Show in China where members of the UK’s National Youth Theatre took part in a dazzling performance in front of thousands of visitors.

The MG3 takes on many styling clues from the MG ZERO concept car – again designed by the team at the MG Birmingham site – which was shown for the first time in Europe at two major UK motor shows in November.

MG is owned by SAIC, China’s biggest car company and one of the biggest in the world. Birmingham is the home of MG Motor UK and SAIC’s UK technical centre where around 300 professional engineers and designers are based.

Detailed specifications of the MG3 were not revealed at the show and will be announced at a later date. It was showcased alongside six generations of British compact cars, including an Austin Seven and Morris 1000.

Guy Jones, Sales and Marketing Director of MG Motor UK, said: “The incredible reception the MG3 has had in China is a great reflection on all the hard work put in by the designers and engineers here in Birmingham.”
