A two-day workshop suitable for beginners and the experienced. Experienced potters will be able to achieve more complex results. In the workshop you will be making two or three large platters to explore decorative techniques. This will encompass the slab making technique, along with an understanding of the importance of 'clay memory' and how to work with this to achieve better results.
The platters will serve as an ideal canvas to explore bold decorative techniques using slips and underglaze. Techniques explored will be sponging, stencilling, collage, trailing, feathering, sgraffito etc.
These will be employed by layering to achieve more complex designs. Firing, slips, glazes and underglaze are all included in the price. Students will pay for clay separately by weight. Refreshments are provided at break times and throughout the day.
Please bring a packed lunch with you. Parking is available in the school car park, on the street or at the village hall nearby.
