Aberdeen's Linx Ice Arena, Beach Promenade, reopened to the public on Saturday 19 December. The ice arena closed in late March 2008 to allow a major refurbishment.
Aberdeen City Council deputy leader Kevin Stewart said: "I am absolutely delighted that the Linx Ice Arena is back in operation to serve the people of Aberdeen. I hope that the public make good use of the facility and that visitors, old and new, will flock to the venue."
Vice-convener of Education, Culture and Sport Committee Councillor Martin Greig said: "The £1.45m that the council spent on the ice rink is money well spent. Ice sports are very popular activities that interest a wide range of ages and abilities. Skating and other ice based activities give an enormous amount of pleasure.
The Arena recently hosted the European Curling Championships.
