When we opened in January 1995 we set out to create an environment in which children will be safe, stimulated, and challenged. A place where fun and enjoyment go hand in hand with learning and discovery. Achieving these aims and maintaining high standards does not happen by accident. It is the result of a carefully thought out approach, clearly defined objectives and rigorous standards.
We are located close to the Gresford Roundabout, about a quarter of a mile from the main Wrexham bypass (A483) and are ideal for those living and working in Wrexham, the local Industrial Estates and Chester.
The Day Nursery is a purpose built building set in a delightful rural setting. The exterior is very spacious having a large client car park, a fenced soft surface play section leading onto a large fenced grassed area. Internally, the Day Nursery has been designed and equipped so as to ensure the utmost in all aspects of safety.
The Homesteads Day Nursery is registered with The Care Standards Inspectorate for Wales and is under the supervision of Mrs Carol Edwards who is also the owner.
The Day Nursery accommodates three units: - Pre-School, Toddlers and Babies.
Pre-School - Five members of staff run the pre school unit and there is provision for physical play, resting periods, eating, science, craft, literacy and mathematical activities. The staff follows a timetable throughout the day and plan daily and weekly activities to ensure that all children have the opportunity to take part in all activities, including children who have special needs. French and Welsh are also incorporated into the timetable.
Toddler Unit - Seven members of staff look after the toddlers and the unit contains a playroom, quiet room, craft room and a conservatory. The children are organised into smaller groups within each area, learning through first hand, play-based activities and experiences. The groups follow a structured day. This adheres itself to the differing ages, abilities and stages of development of all the children.
Baby Unit - This part of the day nursery contains a conservatory, a quiet room, a large cot room and an area for feeding and is overseen by four members of staff. There is an assortment of equipment to allow for each stage of development and the unit adopts a very calm atmosphere.
Our Approach to Early Learning follows the requirements laid out by the Care and Social Services Inspectorate of Wales and we provide a well organised environment, consistent daily routines and an approach that lends itself to the all round development of the child, whilst recognising that children develop at their own rate.
Mealtimes
Everyday, meals are freshly prepared on the premises and a morning snack and drink is served at around 10am, followed by a hot two course lunch and drink. Afternoon tea is served at 3:30pm consisting of fruit, cheese and freshly made sandwiches. Special diets can be easily accommodated.
Opening Times
We are open from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, except for Christmas and Bank Holidays.
School Collections
We offer a FREE school collection service from local schools escorting them back to the nursery for the remainder of the day. This is subject to limited spaces available which are allocated on a first come first served basis.
