The Rock is Weymouth and Portland’s newest local pub, having opened its doors again in 2007.
Located in a building that was once an old cider house, The Rock pub and restaurant in Weymouth is already drawing quite a crowd thanks to the outstanding quality of its food. In addition, the pub’s welcoming atmosphere combined with the contemporary design make it a vibrant and exciting place to enjoy a meal or a few beers.

The Rock is one of the few public houses, bars and inns in Weymouth and Portland to serve restaurant quality food at pub prices. In fact the food is better than you’d find in many restaurants, and that’s no surprise when you learn the chef has two AA Rosettes. There is food for everyone at The Rock, from corporate lunches through to private parties and of course, anyone who simply fancies a night out with great food and drink.
Ingredients are sourced from Weymouth and Portland and the surrounding areas where possible – and of course there’s a superb selection of reasonably priced beers and ales to accompany your meal.
Whet your appetite with a starter such as Fine Duck and Orange Paté with Wild Rocket and Pomegranate Salad. Then fill up on a satisfying main: if there are two of you, consider sharing a Rock Pot, which comprises Succulent pieces of Salmon, Tuna, Prawns, Mussels and Red Mullet casseroled and served with Chunky Bread.
Make sure you leave room for a tasty dessert – perhaps a Mixed Berry Crumble with Brown Sugar and Oats served with Custard, or a Plated selection of Cheese and Biscuits with Chutney, Grapes and Celery.
When The Rock pub in Weymouth opened last year it did so as a local pub, but now people visit from Poole and Bournemouth to sample the delicious food. The Rock won Gold prize in the Weymouth and Portland Food Hygiene Awards.
