Acorns Children’s Hospice is a charitable organisation which has helped care for well over 1,200 families in its Walsall, Selly Oak and Worcester hospices.  We care for sick children who are life-limited as well as give support to their families.

Acorns Children's Hospice charity opened its doors in Walsall in 1999 and provides a home-from-home environment where each child receives a tailor-made package of individual care.

The Walsall hospice has a multi-sensory room with the latest interactive equipment, as do the hospices at Selly Oak and Worcester. The Walsall hospice has two special bedrooms where children can stay after their death in a self-contained suite.
Acorn's Children's Hospice in Walsall has landscaped gardens including a specialist play pitch – ideal for wheelchair hockey – and an interactive water feature which provides hours of fun.
The Walsall hospice also has a Memorial Garden where families can spend time reflecting and remembering a child they have lost.  On average, every week one of the children we care for will die.

At the moment about 600 families receive the services of this charitable organisation. Our community team give respite, emergency and end-of-life care at our hospices in Walsall, Selly Oak and Worcester and round-the-clock support at home.

Acorns Children's Hospice in Walsall and the Acorns Children's Hospice in Worcester have specialist adolescent facilities – The Acorns Children's Hospice in Walsall was the first in the country to introduce these facilities.

It currently costs more than £6 million a year to support the families of children at the Acorn's Children's Hospices in Walsall, Worcester and Selly Oak.  Because the Acorns Children's Hospice is a charitable organisation there is no charge to families.  This means that Acorns rely heavily on the community to fund the majority of its charitable activities. It costs £4,500 per day to run each of the hospices; a daily bed cost of £450.

Acorns Children's Hospice rely on the charitable donations from individuals, groups of supporters, trusts, companies and volunteering and charity shop sales.  Acorns also participate in lotteries, including the new Chariot Lottery, TLC in Birmingham and the South Worcestershire Hospices Lottery.

You can also help  these sick children by donating your time and volunteering at one of this charitable organisations charity shops in Walsall. There are four Acorns Children's Hospice charity shops in the Walsall area:
