Acorns Children’s Hospice is a charitable organisation which has helped care for well over 1,200 families in its Walsall, Selly Oak and Worcester hospices. We care for sick children who are life-limited as well as give support to their families.
Acorns Children's Hospice charity opened its doors in Walsall in 1999 and provides a home-from-home environment where each child receives a tailor-made package of individual care.
The Walsall hospice has a multi-sensory room with the latest interactive equipment, as do the hospices at Selly Oak and Worcester. The Walsall hospice has two special bedrooms where children can stay after their death in a self-contained suite.
Acorn's Children's Hospice in Walsall has landscaped gardens including a specialist play pitch – ideal for wheelchair hockey – and an interactive water feature which provides hours of fun.
The Walsall hospice also has a Memorial Garden where families can spend time reflecting and remembering a child they have lost. On average, every week one of the children we care for will die.
At the moment about 600 families receive the services of this charitable organisation. Our community team give respite, emergency and end-of-life care at our hospices in Walsall, Selly Oak and Worcester and round-the-clock support at home.
