Complementary Medicine - the beginnings
Acupuncture and homeopathy, which interact very closely, are now becoming accepted as trusted and effective treatments for bodily dysfunctions. Acupuncture uses needles to free energy blocked in by disease, while homeopathy uses the energy of the remedies to restore balance. These are safe, gentle forms of medicine which affect the whole body.
This service started in Hexham but is now available to pets in Sunderland at the veterinary centre on the outskirts of Sunderland. The service is championed by Eric Nelson who is a pioneer in the use of alternative treatments for pets as well as being a provider of traditional vet's services.
In the 1980's Eric made a trip to The Small Animal Congress in Tokyo and was amazed by the way complementary medicine was used in the treatment of animals and the effects it had on their recovery. Eric now has an International Diploma in Veterinary Acupuncture and is pleased to be extending the service to the Sunderland area.
