A unique English Restaurant for Stoke-on-Trent!
Unique is a word that can be used quite frequently with no real meaning. However, we are 100% confident in our assertion that The Church Bar and Restaurant, a fine English restaurant in the heart of Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent is a truly unique, and unforgettable experience.
Fine Food with a sense of history
The first thing that strikes you is the ambiance. Established in a building originally built in 1860 as a church by Welsh Methodist Miners, it has been lovingly restored retaining many of the original features, including stained glass windows, and fabulous wood panels.
We can absolutely guarantee that no other English restaurant,or, for that matter any other type of restaurant, in Staffordshire will match this Stoke gem for atmosphere.
Rated as tops in Stoke for service
The Church prides itself on its service, and receives fabulous praise from its diners, many of whom have rapidly become regulars. A savoy style carvery provides wonderful cuts of meat carved and served directly at your table from a silver domed trolley which provides a real sense of fine dining style.
However, don't confuse style and service with stuffiness, as the Church English restaurant provides a warm, friendly, informal welcome for all the family.
A fine selection of food
An interesting menu includes dishes such as:
A choice of three freshly prepared soups each day
Icelandic prawns
Special recipe pate
Smoked chicken and mango
A selection of pasta
Lamp rump
Pork tenderloin
Fillet Steak
Seared Tuna
Salmon
Honey Roast Duck
In addition there are vegetarian options and a dessert trolley that really captures the eye.
An English restaurant in Stoke that's more than just a restaurant!
Fine though the food is that's not all that the Church has to offer. Its elegant, relaxed bar has an ambiance that is hard to match. Comfortable leather sofas, tasteful decor and warm colours make you what to linger. In fact, it's a great place to meet for a casual, relaxed drink, or an ideal place to start and end your Church experience with aperitifs and cocktails.
Live music is provided for special occasions and on a Friday and Saturday evening owner Diane takes the microphone to host a civilised 'disco' in the bar. Diners young and old can typically be found cutting a dash on the dance floor, burning off the calories. Great fun for everyone!
This is no ordinary English restaurant!
There are English restaurants and English restaurants. Make no mistake, this is no 'bangers and mash', country farmhouse restaurant. The food may be distinctly English in influence, but the service is 'fine dining' and the atmosphere is distinctly modern.
