This traditional, family-run hotel, situated in the Welland Valley close to historic Stamford, has been extensively refurbished by the current owners, Allen and Julia Freeman, who also run The Old Pheasant Hotel in Glaston, a short drive away from Stamford.
The Restaurant, Lounge and accommodation have all been given a sumptuous new look, whilst care has been taken to keep the integrity of the historic building – one much loved by the local community. Allen’s skills are now a sought after commodity when other similar enterprises want to sympathetically update.

At the Royal Oak Hotel, accommodation includes 5 ensuite rooms with TV and tea/coffee making facilities; each commanding a superb view of the local open countryside.
The Hotel offers a full, traditional English breakfast and is famous for its fresh, home cooked food.
Restaurant
The Hotel Restaurant is open to non-residents, and is very popular with locals from the Stamford area. It offers a diverse menu with prime cuts of meat and fresh fish – all locally sourced where possible. Each week a varied special is selected by the chef.
Bar
Open log fires are used in the less formal bar area, where home made bar meals and snacks are available together with a comprehensive selection of real ales, premium ales and lagers, spirits, wine and soft drinks.
Situation
The Hotel is conveniently situated just outside Stamford and close to the A47 and A43, so access to local attractions such as Stamford’s famous Burghley House, Rockingham Motor Speedway, Rutland Water, and both the Nene Valley and Rutland Steam Railways. Stamford itself is a historic stone town, and is a pleasant place to while away the time, with plenty to see.
