Black History Month - Film Festival - ‘Short’ screenings
Duration: run time 1 hour 30 minutes followed by 30 minute discussion with Amani Naphtali
An eclectic mix of short dramas and documentaries by London based filmmakers capturing the span of human experience from adversity to triumph.
Come and be enlightened, entertained and ultimately inspired by this programme of films including ‘Loving Hands’ about the life and times of Sybil Phoenix by Lucia Tambini, award winning ‘Home Away from Home’ a short drama about what UK resident Miriam resorts to in order to re-kindle a sense of her African heritage, ‘A Short Story for My Niece - The Queen Yaa Asantewaa Story’ by the talented Akua Ofosuhene of Serendipitous Productions and a lively documentary by Peckham TV which uses a game show format to capture the mix of public opinion on the future of Peckham featuring artist Harold Offeh.
Southwark Council is proud to present a series of short films and documentaries covering a range of social and political issues for Black History Month.
Filmmaker and theatre director Amani Naphtali will host these screenings and lead a Qustion and Answer discussion with filmmakers and members of the audience.
