The Plateaux Gallery in Bermondsey is a thriving example of some of London’s finest art galleries and dealers. Founded in 1997 by the furniture designer Leo Duval, the gallery specialises in the exhibition and sale of Contemporary Applied Art and Fine Art.
One of their major artists is Vladimir Zbynovsky whose free flowing works essentially explore the relationship between stone and glass, evoking a simultaneous sense of heaviness and transparency. Zbynovsky’s sculptures show the fascinating qualities of glass that reveal spectacular inner interplay, whereby a slightest shift in observation can create a different image inside the glass. An exhibition of Zbynovsky’s work called ‘Between Glass and Stone’ is on display at the Plateaux Gallery in Bermondsey, Southwark.
As well as representing established artists and designers in the Southwark, the United Kingdom and Europe, The Plateaux Gallery is always looking for fresh, original talent. Functional and sculptural pieces of glass and ceramics are on display at the gallery.
Regular exhibitions are held throughout the year with a programme of solo, themed or mixed exhibitions highlighting work from the Bermondsey, Southwark and beyond. All work exhibited is for sale and commissions are often possible. The gallery can liaise with individual makers on your behalf.
The Plateaux Gallery couldn’t be better located: it’s in an area well known for its art galleries and dealers. It’s also only a 4 minute walk to the Design Museum in Bermondsey and Conran’s famous riverside restaurants and cafes.
Opening hours:
Wednesday – Friday: 11 am until 6 pm
Saturday and Sunday: 12 noon until 6 pm
The gallery is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays are by appointment only.
