Breaking Through the Glass Ceiling

According to the North West Regional Development Agency, female owned enterprises contribute approximately £70 million to the national economy every year

With the right help and support more than 150,000 new businesses could be set up by women in the UK every year.  With this in mind Pat Parry  owner of P.P.B.A.Ltd – Training and Development created the ‘IF’ (Inspired Females) Business Development Programme.  The Programme is held one evening per month at Treetops Formby and  focuses on key business fundamentals including marketing, finance, presentation skills, time management, successful selling and finding the ‘Real You’.

Pat Parry is leader of the programme, additional Southport Based Trainers are Tina Porter – Tina Porter Ltd and Val McKie- Valiant Training.

Pat said ‘There are various barriers for women to overcome in the business world and this is reflected in the contrast between the level of male and female enterprise.
‘Women’s attitude to business and their approach to achieving outcomes can vary quite considerably and be different from their male counterparts. This is not to say that one is more effective than the other, it is just different’.

Lisa Horne, owner of Health Paws Ltd, Formby enrolled on the ‘Inspired Females’programme 2007/8 to help develop her business skills after setting up her own company.  This year she has been crowned Merseyside’s Entrepreneur of the Year.  She said
‘I would definitely recommend the’IF’ Programme; the skills I picked up are invaluable.  As a woman it can sometimes be difficult to be heard in a business environment, the programme gives you the confidence to have a voice and lots more’.
‘IF’ is more than a business Development Programme it offers delegates mentoring, support and networking opportunities throughout the 10 months programme.

The 2008/9 ‘IF’ Programme commences  11th. September 2008 – this programme is part funded by Skillworks Funding.  If you simply have a vision for a business, or are a business owner  ‘IF’ can make a resounding difference to you and your business

What are RSS Feeds?

RSS feeds allow you to see when websites have added new content. You can get the latest headlines and stories in one place, as soon as they are published, without having to visit the websites you have taken the feed from.

How do I start using feeds?

In general, the first thing you need is something called a feed reader. This is a piece of software that checks the feeds and lets you read any new articles that have been added. There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser, and some of which are downloadable applications. IE 7.0 has a good feed reader built in, otherwise try Feedreader.
