Off the Shelf: From Here to There, Now and Then - A Display of Postcards
3rd October 2008 to 31st October 2008
Normal Library opening hours
Postcards were the Edwardian equivalent of the mobile phone and the text message. Thousands of postcards passed through the Post Office every day with such simple messages as "See you 8pm tonight". Pictures reflected this popularity with an image for every occasion. So come along and see this display, in the Display Case on the First Floor of the Central Library, that examines the social history of the postcard.
The exhibition was researched by Suzanne Bingham and designed by Emily Alston.
