A Tale of Two Cities
Combining classical dance and theatre, Northern Ballet Theatre has a strong reputation for creating ballets based on classic stories, including Dickens’ favourite "A Christmas Carol".
'It was the best of times, it was the worst of times' In the years before the French Revolution the lives of two very different men, Charles Darnay (an exiled French aristocrat) and Sydney Carton (a disreputable but brilliant English lawyer) come together through their love for Lucie Manette.
From foggy London to the blood-stained streets of Paris, Charles Dickens’ 'A Tale of Two Cities' is a story of love, sacrifice, revenge and ultimately redemption.
This new production is choreographed by Cathy Marston; previously an Associate Artist of the Royal Opera House, Cathy is now Director of the Bern Ballett in Switzerland and one of Britain’s brightest young choreographers.
